EXPLORING EXCELLENCE – Oklahoma Research Day 2020

If you are looking for an avenue to share your research work or to see works of scholars from other universities, Oklahoma Research Day (ORD) is the premier state academic research event that provides that opportunity.

This year’s conference will be held on Friday, Mar. 6, 2020 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford with a keynote from Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, a former NASA astronaut. Dr. Dunbar retired from NASA in September 2005 then served as president and CEO of The Museum of Flight till 2010. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Dunbar lead the University of Houston’s STEM Center (science, technology, engineering and math) and was a faculty member in the Cullen College of Engineering. She is presently a professor of aerospace engineering at Texas A&M University and serves as Director of the Institute for Engineering Education and Innovation (IEEI).

The ‘Luncheon & Speaker’ session will be held at Pioneer Cellular Event Center from 11AM to 1PM. The final session will be a second poster display at SWOSU Wellness Center from 1PM to 2:30PM. Oklahoma Research Day has been celebrating student and faculty research, creative, and scholarly activities for two decades. The conference has grown in numbers and in stature with contributions from all of Oklahoma’s institutions of higher education, including many collaborative contributions from national and international academic and research institutions. The first Research Day in Oklahoma was held in 1999 and included 233 poster presentations by students and faculty from Oklahoma colleges and universities. In 2019, Oklahoma Research Day hosted more than 700 registered students, faculty, and guests and featured 562 unique poster presentations.

Abstract submissions deadline for this year’s ORD is Friday, Jan 31, 2020. Oklahoma Research Day is more than merely a celebration of research, creative and scholarly activities.  It is also an opportunity for students and faculty from multiple institutions to interact with counterparts in their respective disciplines. Don’t miss the opportunity to make connections that could produce great outcomes!
