Time for Project… Summer Vacation

With the Spring semester finished and the start of summer vacation season upon us take some time to reward all your hard work while on break. Here are a few resources to help you save a few bucks while having fun. Theme Parks, National Parks, concerts or sporting events, even local to Oklahoma read on for Summer Vacation discounts and programs.

Theme Park

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are extending their free park admission program, Waves of Honor to Veteran service members from May 31st-July 15th. This great program offers free admission to the military member and up to three guests. Normally available year-round for actively serving military members of the active, reserve, or guard program, SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment are temporarily extending eligibility to include US military veterans. Request tickets and find more program details at SeaWorld Waves of Honor

National Park Service

If theme parks are not your cup of tea, the USGS offers free lifetime pass for any disabled US citizen with any percentage rating at any of the 2,000+ federal recreation sites. While this is not a veteran only program, many veterans leave the service with a disability percentage that would qualify them for this program. Go to the website America the Beautiful Land Access Pass or visit any Federal Park with a copy of your VA disability Award letter and apply in person. If you are local to the OKC Metro you can apply for the pass in person at the Downtown Oklahoma City Federal Building. Additional park locations can be found at this website National Park Service – Find A Park. Call ahead to make sure the location issues America the Beautiful Land Access Passes.

Tickets

Looking for event tickets? Check out VetTix.org. Veteran Tickets Foundation’s Tickets for Troops Program is dedicated to giving back to those who gave us so much. We team up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and every day event ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to currently serving and veterans of all branches of the US military.

Oklahoma

If you are wanting to stay local, several Oklahoma State Parks and other Oklahoma businesses offer military and/or veteran discounts. Did you know you may qualify for lifetime hunting and fishing license at a significantly reduced fee? Several state parks offer tent, RV, and cabin discounts on select dates, call ahead at each park for details. To learn more about veteran benefits within the state of Oklahoma visit odva.ok.gov.
