2022 Performance Appraisals

Kristine Thurmon, Employee Relations specialist

As the year comes to a close, it is time to start thinking about annual performance appraisals. Performance appraisals review an employee’s job performance over the past year. The structured format allows employees to evaluate their skills, achievements and growth opportunities. Supervisors are then able to provide feedback on job performance to ensure employees are meeting their goals and the expectations of their role.

At UCO, performance appraisals are employee-led, with staff members first completing a self-appraisal. Supervisors will then take their staff member’s assessment into consideration when completing their appraisal. The supervisor and staff member will meet to discuss the results. This time provides a platform for communication to ask questions and share ideas and concerns.

All regular (non-temporary) full-time and part-time staff who started before Oct. 1, are expected to complete a performance appraisal for the 2022 calendar year. Self-appraisals will open on Jan. 17 and close on Jan. 31. Supervisors will then have from Feb. 1 to Feb. 20 to complete their performance appraisals, followed by an Employee Relations review period. All performance appraisals will be released on March 24, so supervisors should ensure they discuss performance appraisals with their staff members prior to this date.
