staff senate update

The Staff Senate met on Tuesday, October 5th. Our guest speakers were Bucky Dodd, Assistant Vice President for Education Strategy and Innovation and Chief Learning Innovation Officer, and Dene Roseburr-Olotu, Director of Diversity and Inclusion.

The Senate passed SSR-2021/2022-002 Leadership UCO Capstone Topics. The Constitution, Parliamentary Procedure, and Elections (CPP&E) Committee introduced SSA 2021/2022-001, which would remove gendered language from the Staff Senate Bylaws, and SSA 2021/2022-002, which would add a special meeting to elect officers before the first Senate meeting of the year. We are scheduled to debate and vote on those amendments at the meeting on Tuesday, November 2nd.

The Compensation Committee has been investigating telework policies and holiday leave schedules at peer institutions. Moving forward, they will be looking at the policy related to quarantine leave that was referred to the Senate by the COVID-19 Task Force for examination.

The Staff Senate will hold meetings from 2-4pm on Tuesday, November 2nd and Tuesday, December 7th. The agendas and guest speakers aren’t set at the time of this writing, but information will be added the UCO Staff Senate website as it becomes available. The meetings are scheduled to be in FSI 106 and are available to watch via Zoom. Everyone in the UCO community is welcome to attend. Masks and distancing are strongly encouraged for those who attend in person.
