My Role in Change

Saasha Reese, Talent Development

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” – James Baldwin

We are experiencing a time of change. This change is resisted by some, newly adopted by others and long fought for (with great cost) by many. As James Baldwin stated, a minimum prerequisite to lasting change is facing facts that have been dismissed but upheld and enforced while being ignored in our country for centuries. However, change only begins with acknowledgment. We all have a role to play in furthering change. Have you considered what your role is?

Deepa Iyer explores various roles that are needed in the “Social Change Ecosystem” and poses questions to help us identify which roles we may need to occupy in order to support change. Read more about how to actively participate in social change in an authentic way.

  • This is a useful reference. Thinking about what motivates you should hopefully help you think about what kind of actions you can do. Finding some ways that you can contribute to change will help you feel better about the other ways that you can’t initiate change. Whatever it is that you can do, please be doing it right now. Thanks for sharing this!
