The passing of time, anniversaries and significant moments – these are all occasions, which call us to look back. Looking back may be our heart’s response to something we’re feeling today, or it may be the current of life sparking reflection before moving forward. As the torchbearers of transformative learning, we embrace reflection as a meaningful learning practice in our classrooms. As global citizens, reflection provides context and perspective as we consider our path ahead.
This edition of Old North invites you to look back with our storytellers and appreciate the value of this pause in their lives. For one, looking back was her heart’s yearning for what had been taken. For another, looking back showed the joy of his experience. For still another, looking back was an effort to retrace his steps. The stories you will read here contain the reminiscence of our Broncho community members. They have chosen to share these recollections of precious and private moments with us because we share something meaningful with them – love for Central.
As this academic year comes to a close, we look back on our accomplishments and challenges, our wins and losses. We have made an indelible mark on the thousands of students who chose to entrust their education to us as we generously offered patience, encouragement, access to knowledge and the safety to shape their own identities.
We will remain filled with the spirit of possibility as we look to the future and appreciate our past experiences that have shaped that vision.
