International Students! Are you ready for your journey to the USA 🇺🇸?

Hello everyone!

I am Sandhra, an MBA (Master of Business Administration) student at UCO (University of Central Oklahoma). I come from the state called “the God’s Own Country,” Kerala in India. I went to the United States on February 1st, 2021, amidst the pandemic. My journey was not as easy and usual as it was before Covid-19. But proper planning and preparing myself for the trip helped me sit for a 24-hour flight without any chaos.

So, I am here to share my pre-departure checklist and explain how I prepared to pack up to move to another country for my studies. The primary thing to always have is your documents and I.D.s such as passport, I-20, etc.

Get Involved!

Hello everyone! My name is Trung (Victor) Vu, and I’m a Vietnamese 🇻🇳 student at the University of Central Oklahoma. I major in Marketing with a minor in Interpersonal Communication. When I first arrived on campus, I was excited yet nerve-wracking to make new friends and discover more about myself and my home away from home.

I’d seen many American college movies: Wild parties, Beer pong, and red Solo cups. On the contrary, the overall college experience I was after was getting that degree and investing my time in academics. I understood the price tag of my education and had no intention of wasting the experience.

Your Professors Will Be the Key to Your Future

Picture of Ligia standing at the conferenceHi! My name is Ligia Espinoza, and I am an International Student from Nicaragua. I am here to share my story about how I was able to receive an internship with a Transportation Economics and Logistics Research firm through the help of my UCO professor.

The United States is known as the “land of opportunity” – however, UCO is the place where opportunities oftentimes come with a helping hand. My story started when I came to UCO in August of 2017 and started pursuing an Operations and Supply Chain Management degree. At this time, I quickly realized that making connections was going to be key to my success as a student and for my future as a professional.
