The Modern Languages International Potluck will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the UCO International House. This event is meant to be a cultural activity opportunity for students taking Modern Language courses, but we are welcoming others who would like to make and share a dish to join in, as long as they are currently a student at UCO.. Dr. Karen Manna’s article titled “Acting Honnête: Effeminacy, Masculinity, and the Ethos of Social Virtue” will be published in the December 2017 issue of the journal Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment.

Dr. Guillermo Martinez-Sotelo, Assistant Professor, will be presenting a panel titled: “Strategies and Partnerships to Attract and Retain Hispanic Faculty” with a group of colleagues from UCO at the 31st Annual Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities . The conference will be held in San Diego, California, from October 28-30.

Dr. Janet Livesey, Lecturer, presented her paper titled “La magia del cuento corto” (“The Magic of the Short Story”) at the XIX Congreso Internacional de Literatura y Estudios Hispanicos in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last March.

Dr. Catherine Webster, Dean, presented a paper entitled “If you didn’t exist, I would have to invent you: How fiction trumped reality in the French graphic memoir” at the 2nd International Gender and Sexuality Studies Conference, held in Oklahoma City September 27-30, 2017.
