Sarah Kyle Receives Grant from American Philosophical Society

Dr. Sarah Kyle received a Franklin grant from the American Philosophical Society to support archival research in Venice during her sabbatical in the 2017-18 academic year. Additionally, in early April, Dr. Kyle presented her recent research in a paper entitled “An Experiment in the Collection of Knowledge: the Roccabonella Herbal as ‘Laboratory’” at the Renaissance Society of America conference in Chicago. She travels to Kalamazoo, MI, to present her paper “Mediators of Body and Soul: Representations of Plants as Physical and Spiritual Medicine” at the International Congress of Medieval Studies in mid-May. This paper has been contracted by Bloomsbury Publishing for inclusion in the volume A Cultural History of Plants in the Post-Classical Era.
