Monday, Feb. 15, 2021: Shift to Virtual/Telework Feb. 16-19, 2021

Due to the continued impacts of the extreme winter weather, UCO will shift to virtual instruction for classes and telework for employees from Tuesday, Feb. 16 through Friday, Feb. 19. Classes will resume in-person instruction and campus buildings will open Saturday, Feb. 20. Offices will open Monday, Feb. 22.

During the time of virtual instruction and telework, campus buildings will be closed. Professors will contact students with virtual arrangements for class. Most university services are available online or virtually, including access to library resources. One of the primary reasons for extending virtual instruction and telework is the ability to clear snow/ice from campus with sustained subfreezing temperatures. Walking conditions on campus remain treacherous until temperatures rebound or walking surfaces can be sufficiently treated. Travel to campus is discouraged.

The university is aware of the possibility of controlled rolling power outages in the coming days. We are in contact with Edmond Electric and will communicate with our housing residents should the campus lose power. Students should communicate with their professors if they have an interruption in power during a scheduled class time. Employees should communicate with their supervisors if they have an interruption in power during work hours.

Full-time employees (hourly and salaried) who are unable to telework should submit a time-off request via Paycom with “Paid Absence” as the reason. The time will not be deducted from an employee’s accrued leave. Hourly employees who are teleworking and do not have access to clock in/out off campus should submit punch change requests to log the time they work via Paycom.

Thank you for your understanding and adaptability. Stay warm, Bronchos!

At the Office of University Communications at the University of Central Oklahoma, we bleed bronze and blue — Pantone 116 and 282, to be exact. The University Communications staff of professionals promotes Central to the community through news releases, media relations, advertising, branding and marketing initiatives, publications and electronic media — and, of course, using the university's official colors (that's the Pantone 116 and 282). We believe the University of Central Oklahoma is a thriving, opportunity-rich institution located in one of the best metropolitan areas in the country with innovative students, faculty and staff who make a difference in our world. It is our pleasure to share the Central story with you.
