UCO President Patti Neuhold-Ravikumar updates the Central community on the decision to extend Level 4 Operations one week, through Feb. 7. Barring significant changes to local COVID-19 data and trends, the university will return to Level 2 operations Monday, Feb. 8.
Under Level 2, classes that were originally intended to meet in-person during the spring semester will begin meeting in person with face masks and distancing in place. Students enrolled in an extended classroom section will continue to join virtually per their professor’s instructions. Campus offices will return to working arrangements in place prior to Thanksgiving break.
The following measures will remain in place through Feb. 7:
- Most in-person classes will continue remote synchronous instruction (virtual) through Feb. 7. Some classes, such as labs, clinicals and fine arts, will continue to meet in person during this time. Online classes will continue as planned.
- Campus facilities will remain open, including the library, campus housing, residential dining, Wellness Center and athletics locations.
- Most campus services will continue to offer in-person options, including enrollment, admissions and financial aid.
- Administration and staff will follow the direction of their division leadership for working arrangements that reduce density.
- Campus mail will not be delivered to offices during this time, but may be picked up at the Physical Plant loading dock M-F.
- Campus events of 25 people or less or those with approval of the division vice president/head or university president may continue as planned with required COVID-19 protocols in place. Athletic competition will continue, following Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association guidance, with no spectators.
Please continue to practice mitigation measures, including wearing a face mask, washing hands and social distancing, when around others on and off campus. All are encouraged to sign up with the Oklahoma State Department of Health for COVID-19 vaccine distribution through their
online portal.
