Beer and Wine Sales Begin at UCO Football Games

UCO’s athletic department is making an addition to the game day experience at Broncho football games.

Starting at this Saturday’s game against Lincoln at 7 p.m. at Wantland Stadium, beer and wine will be available for purchase at dedicated concession stands.*

Central will join Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa, as well as many more across the country, in permitting the sale of beer and wine at football games.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When can I buy beer and/or wine?
Sale of beer and wine at UCO Athletic events will be open to general attending public inside the event venue when the gates open. Sale of beer and wine will stop at the equivalent of 75 percent of the event completion (i.e. end of the third quarter.)
  • Where can I buy beer and wine?
Sale of beer and wine will be located at stand-alone locations, separate from the main concession stand(s).
  • How many beers and/or wine can I buy?
Individuals will be limited to a maximum of two beers and/or wine in a single purchase. If the server deems a patron to be too intoxicated to purchase alcohol, the server may refuse to sell any further beverages to that patron and ask for assistance from an on-site UCO DPS officer to address the situation (i.e., removal of the wristband, field sobriety test, removal of patron from the venue, etc.).
  • How do I buy a beer and/or wine?
Each individual purchasing beers and/or wine will be required to present valid identification that verifies that persons date of birth and that they meet the minimum age of 21 (i.e., driver’s license). Once the minimum age is confirmed, the individual will have an identifying wristband placed on their wrist, to signify they are able to purchase and consume alcohol inside the event venue.
  • What if I don’t have a wristband?
If UCO DPS or other event staff witness individuals drinking beer and/or wine inside the event venue without a wristband, those individuals will be asked to provide identification and asked to obtain a wristband from one of the point-of-sale locations or separate identification station.
  • Can I leave the game with my beers and/or wine?
Beers and/or wine sold inside the stadium will not be allowed to leave the venue.
  • Can I leave the game and come back?
The availability of beer and/or wine inside the athletic venue will also change the re-entry policy at athletic events to prohibit fans from leaving the game and re-entering. Once a fan leaves the game, they will have to purchase another ticket to re-enter the game/event.
  • How will alcohol sales/drinking be monitored?
UCO Athletics will maintain the same or a larger presence of UCO Department of Public Safety officers for athletic events.

* Beers and/or wine will be sold by a licensed vendor according to UCO and the Regional University System of Oklahoma Colleges policies, city ordinances, the ABLE Commission, Title 37A of the Oklahoma Statutes and all other laws of the State of Oklahoma.
