All Moved In? Now What?

Move-In Day has come and gone, and we’re gearing up for a brand new semester at Central. So what now? How can you make the most of your time living at Central?

We asked the UCO Housing and Dining Office about the best ways to get and stay connected right where you live.

One of the first events for residents is the Welcome Home Ropes Course. During Welcome Home Week, Aug. 13-17, Residence Life invites all residents to the UCO Outdoor Adventure Recreation at Lake Arcadia to meet hall neighbors and get to know them through teambuilding exercises, working together to complete the low ropes course challenge.

a student carries bags as part of move-in day activitiesExcited about the prospect of the ropes course? Look forward to Residence Life Fall Field Day in early fall. Field Day competitions will include:

  • Oversized Volleyball
  • Bocce Ball
  • Soccer
  • Tug-of-War
  • WII Bowling
  • Gaga Ball
  • Trivia

It’s not the fall semester at UCO without Homecoming! UCO Residence Life participates in many of Homecoming events, Sept. 30-Oct. 6, across campus, including:

  • Penny Wars (all proceeds go to Ally’s House)
  • Brag Board
  • Paint the Campus
  • Dodge Ball
  • Tug-of-War
  • Cheer & Dance
  • Parade Spirit Section

Interested in getting connected further? Sign up with your Resident Assistant (RA) to be a community programmer and help plan events for your floor community or take your involvement to the next level and help plan events for all of housing as a Resident Hall Association Liaison for your hall. Liaisons attend meetings as they work to plan larger scale programming for the wider Residence Life community, serving as a voice for their respective residence halls and providing insight to ensure their communities’ interests and needs are accurately represented throughout the year.

Living for your residence life experience? Strive to become a National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) Candidate Member. NRHH selects the top one percent of residential students for potential membership into the organization. Candidate members can attend meetings and support their community through recognition drives and service projects.

Want to know more? Contact your RA for more information on all of the events and organizations mentioned above.
