Civic Engagement Opportunity

The Democracy Innovation program of the National Conference on Citizenship in partnership with the National Issues Forum Institute and the Kettering Foundation is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, September 14 at 12:30 p.m. ET to discuss the role of local civic leaders, and how that role has been affected by the pandemic, our more polarized political climate, and our rapidly changing technological landscape.

The webinar will feature the voices and perspectives of civic practitioners in both the local and national fields:

  • Matt Leighninger, Head of Democracy Innovation for the National Conference on Citizenship
  • Betty Knighton, President of the National Issues Forums Institute and was the founding director of the West Virginia Center for Civic Life

  • And Brad Rourke, Kettering Foundation and the founder and former publisher of local online news source Rockville Central in Rockville, Maryland
