The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma’s (ACM@UCO) High Noon Showcase continues Oct. 3 with Oklahoma-based Americana singer-songwriter Jason Scott.
He performs 12:15 p.m. in the Songwriting Room (first floor) at ACM@UCO, 25 S. Oklahoma Ave., in Bricktown. All High Noon shows are free and open to the public.
The event is part of the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma’s (ACM@UCO) growing Metro Music Series celebrating the school’s 10th anniversary.
The ACM@UCO alumnus recently earned a global hat-tip when NPR Music spotlighted his song “She Good To Me” on World Cafe’s “Heavy Rotation: 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing” alongside cuts by MGMT, Moby and Jade Bird. The breezy mandolin-and-brushes gem is a tribute to Scott’s wife of nine years and is part of the “Living Rooms” EP, recorded in 2017 with Travis Linville.
Scott is enjoying many firsts in 2018: He played Mile 0 Fest in Key West, Florida, for the first time; he made his Woodyfest debut at the 21st Annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival; and he was a finalist in the Red Dirt Relief Fund’s Jimmy LaFave Songwriting Contest.

His bragworthy band features legendary Oklahoma percussionist Michael Byars, along with stand-up and bass guitarist Kangwa Mundende and guitarist Gabriel Mor.
“Many of our students tell me how much they love Jason Scott’s new EP on Spotify, so I know he’s a great addition to our High Noon Showcase,” ACM@UCO CEO and Executive Director Scott Booker said of the up-an-coming music tastemaker. “This is a great way to become familiar with his work before he joins touring act Mipso on Oct. 10 at the ACM@UCO Performance Lab in Bricktown.”
Jason Scott is a skilled multi-instrumentalist, quickly becoming known for his unrelenting, sweat-soaked performances. He is also a producer, an engineer and an in-demand session musician who in 2018 produced albums for Americana artists Carter Sampson, Ken Pomeroy and Nellie Clay.
“Living Rooms” is available on vinyl and CD at jasonscottmedia.com, Apple, Amazon and Spotify. Learn more about him at facebook.com/jasonscottmusics.
Previous performers in ACM@UCO’s High Noon Showcase include Dawson Hollow, Trevor McBane and Original Flow and the Fervent Route.
