Sophia Massad Releases New Single, ‘Come Back Home,’ Featuring Chase Kerby

Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) student Sophia Massad releases her new single, “Come Back Home,” Sept. 7 (tomorrow!). It features Oklahoma City musician and ACM@UCO alum Chase Kerby.

Massad, having been in the music industry for over 12 years, started this passion project to create her rawest music. Inspired by Alabama Shakes and Amy Winehouse, she is both impressive and poetically honest.

“Come Back Home” features possibly one of Oklahoma’s most well-known local artists, Chase Kerby.

Kerby was a contestant on “The Voice,” and has been in bands such as ExWives, Beau Jennings and the Tigers and Chase Kerby and the Villains. Massad said he has the perfect style to compliment her folk roots.

After a dark and strenuous heartbreak, Massad, transfixed on her muse, sat down at the piano and created “Come Back Home,” a story about finding the love of her life, and then losing him to the chaos and confusion of this world.

While still mystified, Massad wrote a song filled with hope, blissful memories and warmth.

“Come Back Home” features Chase Kerby on vocals, Tristan Todd on lead guitar, Ethan Neel on drums and Chris Anderson on bass and keys. It was mixed and mastered by producer, musician and ACM@UCO lecturer Dustin Ragland.

You can RSVP to the online listening premiere on Sophia Massad’s music fan page.

Buddy Broncho made his first appearance in UCO's own newspaper The Vista. It was the October 3, 1932, issue where a Broncho appears wearing a UCO football uniform. He has appeared numerous times throughout the years from local Edmond papers in the 60's to state-wide papers in the 80's. The commissioning of the first ever live mascot appears in UCO's 1979 Bronze Book where Buddy Broncho made his first public appearance at Homecoming. Since that time, Buddy has been a fixture at UCO events and in the hearts of UCO students.
