Health Care Survey

In Fall 2019, UCO’s AAUP conducted a Benefits Satisfaction Survey with an n=318. Click to view the Default Report, as well as a Summarization of Findings. Below is a summary of the results from the quantitative portion of the survey:

Costs

Approximately 46% of the survey sample are either “dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied” with the final costs of UCO medical insurance. 22% are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 32% are either very satisfied or satisfied.

Approximately 43% of the survey sample are either “dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied” with the cost of dental insurance.  19% are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 38% and either satisfied or very dissatisfied.

Bottom Line: A plurality of the survey respondents were not satisfied with the cost of UCO medical and dental insurance.

Coverage

Approximately 29% of the survey sample are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with UCO health care coverage. 18% are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and the remaining 52% are either very satisfied or satisfied.  Approximately 30% of the survey sample are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with UCO dental care coverage. 16% are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and the remaining 54% are either very satisfied or satisfied.  Bottom Line: Nearly half of the survey respondents were not satisfied with their medical and dental coverage

Information Provided by UCO about the Various Plans

Approximately 30% of the survey sample are either “very dissatisfied” or “dissatisfied” with information about medical insurance.  22% were either were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and the remaining 48% were either satisfied or very satisfied with the information given.  Approximately 27% were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the information provided about dental plans.  29% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and the remaining 39% were either very satisfied or satisfied with the information they were given. Bottom Line: A plurality of respondents was not satisfied with the information provided to them in regard to their medical and dental insurance.


2017-2018 AAUP Faculty Compensation Survey

The annual AAUP Faculty Compensation Survey is the largest independent source of data on full-time faculty salary and benefits at two- and four-year colleges and universities in the United States. The 2018 iteration of the survey includes information on salary and benefits for more than 378,865 faculty members from more than 1,000 institutions in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The survey, along with the accompanying “Annual Report on the Economic Status of the Profession,” is published each year in the March–April issue of Academe, the AAUP’s magazine.
