By now, I’mm sure you’ve all heard the big announcement that Datatel+Sungard is now Ellucian… which makes me think of illusions or maybe elusive… which probably isn’t what they were going for.
On to the tablet.
I find myself in an interesting predicament on day one of the cinference. In my efforts to go completely paperless and rely on my tablet, I failed to bring any paper or pens with me nor did I choose to pick qny pens up when I entered the first session. About ten minutes into the session, they passed out a Roving Reporter style ice breaker game. The lack of a pen kept me from participating in the game beyond providing others with my answers. I only tell this story to show how far away we are from being truly paperless wherever we are.
I’ve found the note-taking abilities to be quick and organized as I moved from session to session. I’ve also relied heaviliy on the Summit App to find my sessions in this vast space.
One thing the tablet does that I did not foresee is keep me tied to the office. I spent nearly half od each session trping to handle issues remotely via email and answering a ceaseless barrage of questions from my colleagues back home. It was good to be able to help, but I found it very distracting from the conference itself.
