Thanksgiving and Beyond
Happy Thanksgiving Break to each of you!
Monday we return to resume the final stage of the 2011 Fall Semester. We will be conducting commencement ceremonies on December 17th for almost 900 graduates. Perhaps some of you will be honored that day.
U.S. Representative James Lankford’s visit to Lessons in Leadership this past week was greatly appreciated. The first term Congressman represents the Oklahoma 5th District which includes Edmond. He articulately offered his perception of his life and responsibilities in this important, constitutional, public service role. He particularly focused on his values as the essential frames of reference through which he executes his various duties.
His is a most demanding position in which he relies on aides and schedulers and commits over 80 hours per week to the unending set of tasks. Public service is a calling and a life style, and Rep. Lankford is modeling the way for other prospective leaders in what he says and does. Please note his endorsement of public service as a fulfilling career path. It is one way to “walk the talk” and be the change.
I will be most interested in your reelections on his presentation.
The term is drawing to a close in the coming weeks. I look forward to the remaining sessions. A major thank you to Jarrett for guiding your conversation and pathways through LIL this semester.
See you soon.
Don
