One of the frustrating things about capturing video from the iPad 2 is there is no way to compress the videos. For a video file just under 2 minutes, the file size was 150 MB! That is too large for just a video to be uploaded to a WordPress blog or send as an email. The only solution I found to make it smaller was upload the video file via Dropbox and bring it into my powerbook and compress it via Quicktime. I was able to get the video file down to about 50 megabytes with the settings below.
The biggest problem I see with this is that it takes away from just using an iPad 2 to upload content. I searched around for some APPS to see if there was something that would compress the videos, but didn’t find anything that stood out. Hopefully Apple will address this in the future. They do give options to downsize photos while sending via email, but if the video is too big, you get an error asking if you want to trim the video length.
My solution was to upload it to Youtube and just embed the link into the post, email, etc.
